Hi Max,
Sorry it took me so long to see this...
I have attached a copy of the SYSHOT message that I asked HR in
Dallas to send to all AA agents worldwide. It was sent on 06OCT2004.
The part about paying for departure taxes is now moot,,,,since those
taxes are also now payroll deducted. Also, the VP of Flight Attendants
pushed to make the service charge for jumpseat occupants zero...so we
now enjoy that as well.
Remember, the important thing is that the source for the gate agents'
application of the "no jumpseats for you with open cabin seats"
policy, was an unauthorized trip book statement in the jumpseat
section. That was removed from the Trip Book in Oct 2004. So even
without a copy of the SYSHOT message, a gate agnt will never be able
to show you the policy for refusing you the jumseat in the TRIPBOOK,
which is where all the current AA policies on travel is
listed..........in which case she is violating your travel benefit, an
offence punishable by dismissal....and you are instructed to report
the name of any agent applying the old (and unauthorized) policy to
the Flight and APA higher-ups for prosecution......and let them know
that is what you are required to do.
