130drvr,

From what i gather, it's not hard to make 0-5 as a CAT B IMA. I'm being told that 0-5 as a CAT E has been a hurdle for some... The difficulty is finding a CAT B IMA position. The time line is different in the reserves for promotion. I can't tell you specifically what the time line is but a search on the web should answer that. As an IMA, you must be in the Reserve program for one year before you can be considered for 0-5. The one year starts about May/mid-June so i'm told. If you start in July 08 then you would meet the board in June 2010. This is no factor since there is no HYT for an 0-4. You only set an HYT/MRD if you get passed over twice for 0-5. This info is all from the former IMA Program Manager at my Det.
