The TSA, is at best a band aide. It is a temp fix to a very large problem.

The screening processes are very random between airports and there doesnt seem to be a set standard way of doing things.

However, I believe, Anyone(Pilots, Rampers, CSA, Fuelers etc etc) should be screened atleast to a degree when they come through a SIDA area, either going to or from....

I kept reading the post about going from OPS to terminal. Well Sir you Left the SIDA are and entered a Sterile area. The rules are different, and thus you should have been screened.

Now, is the process messed up? YES. We can all agree on that. There needs to be a quick and efficient way to distinguish crew for pax and ramp from the rest. The badges we have now are barely sufficient.

Is there a quick fix? NO.

Are pilots Immune to screening. No The sad fact is, that I could go on the internet right now, and buy a full uniform and spend a few days and get a decent fake ID, and Now I am a pilot. This is a sad truth, and until there is a better way to identify each other, it remains a necessity.

I am a ramper. I can attest to the fact that I get screened randomly. I have been pulled aside, my bags picked through, and me get the wand. Usually it is just and ID check followed by a quick pocket empty. But it still happens two - three times a month.

Hopefully the government will find a better way to do things, and stop wasting soooo much money on the TSA, but I doubt it, I mean Cmon, isnt that what the Gvrnmt is for? Wasting money and Bad Decision that is.
