Review your lease closely. Most leases say that if you are forced to move out of state or more than 50 miles from your current residence then you will have grounds to break your lease. Being that you are being furloughed, I would call someone ASAP tomorrow with your question. Though technically you aren't trasnferring, the company probably can provide your landlord with a Furlough letter. I would imagine most landlords would work with you on that.
For something so simple not sure why I didn't think to check earlier. Doh! Anyway, I haven't found a hardship clause or anything but it does say that we can terminate early if we give 60 days notice then pay for the remaining two months plus any damages. That's not so bad. Better than paying the remaining 11 months!
