ASEV is an aircrew stan eval visit...an inspection specific to ops. As you know, an ORI is for the whole wing. Funny you should note the first name basis thing. During our ORI (I'm in a guard unit and everyone from the Wing Commander on down is on a first name basis) my crew chief was overheard by one of the inspectors calling me by my first name. Never even occurred to us that anything was out of the norm, but the Active Duty Dork Inspector we had took issue with it. So in a sense, nothing has changed. Well, unless you count losing total sight of the real mission as a change.
