Your reasoning sounds like what one would expect from someone crossing a picket line - 'gotta pay the bills', 'the company will go under', etc, etc . - there's always an excuse...

I'm ashamed for you and on your behalf since you seem to lack what we call decency. I firmly believe that picking up open time when one’s coworkers are being kicked to the curb is actually lower than "scum" - frankly it should be criminal.

In the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters there’re always looters being persecuted for stealing from their neighbors and it’s amazing how they always rationalize their crimes by saying they had bills to pay and besides “everyone else was doing it as well.” In my view a person who’s picking up open time when his or her coworkers are furloughed is a looter as well; basically a thief who’s stealing his/her former coworkers’ livelihoods.
