BTW tonyC, just for ******s and giggles.... buy some vandoren 3 1/2's for your son. he'll want to use those when his chops improve the softer 3 1/2's allows for more dynamic control and expression. im sure he would use those for his soprano or alto anyway. better to keep it the same.

He said he asked for a #3½, but he needs to be working up to a #4 anyway, he was just being lazy. If they hadn't outlawed cell phones in school, I could've just text-messaged him.
Anyway, he's happy with the #4, and I'm happy he's happy. Now I gotta go get some work out of his hide -- a little landscaping project this afternoon.
(He hasn't touched the Alto in over 2 years -- probably won't until he gets to college. UT doesn't march a bari, so he'll make the sacrifice to wear the Orange.)
