Pinnacle will temporary operate Freedom CRJ900s owned by Delta and I assume painted in Delta colors just like the Pinnacle CRJ900s they currently fly. Makes sense to me.
Mesaba does not operate CRJ900s for Delta nor do they operate aircraft painted in Delta colors. However they have a CRJ900 simulator configured to for training in both types of instrumentation and are ramping up staffing / training.
My guess. As Pinnacle gets a new CRJ900 delivery, they will release an ex Freedom CRJ900 to the paint shop where it will be painted in the new (merged) Delta/NW colors then be assigned to Mesaba.
Makes sense to me.
