I got out of AD and went AGR and so far it's been the right choice. I realize there's no real difference in pay, retirement, healthcare, benefits, etc...However, if I was still in I'd look for an AGR slot anywhere (barring the pred units). I'm a fighter guy, but my family is my priority and I'd do whatever it took to watch my little man grow up. In todays environment, I'd wait (assuming I had the time) for POM 10 to drop to get a feel for unit missions in the future. Not moving again will be a huge bonus.
I guess you have to weigh the pay and bennies with your QOL. It's going to depend on your threshold of pain/pay ratio. If I didn't get blessed with an AGR at a guard unit, I was still going to punt and find something to do. I'm not a Harvard grad, but, I'd be able to find something to provide for my family. Too many dumb people making too much money on the outside (just look at our financial debacle). Don't know if Airlines would be in my choices.
