If you want to see how it all ends, do a few searches on the Detroit Public Schools. This year their 1.1 Billion (yes, that's with a B) budget is 100s of millions of dollars in the red. The HS graduation rate is going to be about 25% this year. 16,000 fewer students attend DPS this year than last--parents move out of the city, find a private school, or some alternative.

I am for separation of school and state.
