Even though I attended a public school district with a large share of teachers that would openly express their social/political agendas and their disgust with The America Way. I grew up with the understanding that socialism, specifically the Soviet Union's modus operandi, was bad.

Socialists bad - Capitalists good.

Lately, what has happened to our Federal government (bailouts, politicians defining what used to be perks as rights, etc.)?
Communism = Bad
Laissez faire capitalism = Bad
Well regulated capitalism with built-in social safety nets = Good

History has proven time and again that the market is incapable of regulating itself.
