About to graduate UPT and just received my assignment...C-17s to Travis. We are very excited but we're not too familiar with the area and are looking for some insight. Anything on the base, housing, lifestyle, hospitals (Wife is a nurse), etc. I'm not too concerned with schools since we don't have little ones yet but would appreciate any feedback. You SHOULD be excited. An air force officer, a new pilot, a C-17, TRAVIS (one of the best locations/bases in the AF) and a wife who is a nurse. Reminds me of ME when I was your age.
You have a great assignment at a great base in a great area. As long as you maintain your residency in Texas (assuming you are in Del Rio) If you are there, establish TX residency and keep it throughout AF career.

PS You can find ANYTHING in the area and I mean ANYTHING; including many things that will get you kicked out!!!!!
