Just because you want something doesn't mean you deserve it. I want a million dollars. The whole point is what you're willing to put in determines your character. I think we are plenty stocked up on people who don't have the desire to be a pilot, but they would rather put on the uniform and call themselves an airline pilot.
C'mon, don't be "one of those" bitter guys. I've instructed for a year and a half, haven't flown as much as I'd like to and am burnt out from it FOR THAT reason. Students cancelling, weather holding you back, etc....you don't get paid for any of that crap. I'd rather sit reserve than deal w/ that stuff. I can find so many things to do on my spare time. At least you can budget your minimum guarantee while on reserve! I can't do that while instructing. Don't be so bitter just because you had to instruct for a decade.
I'm burned out from people saying "wow I have never shot an approach this low" when the visibility is <1 mi. I'm burned out on people with a 1,000 hours talkling about building time for the upgrade. You are not here to build time. You are here as a required crew member that is your job. I'm not bitter about what I had to do to get where I am I enjoyed all the jobs I had before working in 121(I definatly didn't instruct for a decade

). I'm just sick of people who think putting on the uniform and collecting min guarantee is the end all.
Enjoy where you are at when the time is right the right place will find you.
