That really is a personal attack because what you are saying includes me. It's like saying don't be offended when you are going to say something offensive. Out side of your opening sentence your entire paragraph was attacking me. Oh, but I guess you said it's not a personal attack.
If I was getting paid to give primary instruction I might be more incline to try to change some one's attitude. This is a job. Safe and legal is my foremost concern outside of that all I can do is tell what I have seen in the form of observations not personal attacks.
Yes the CA sets the tone, but if you are constantly reminding people to adhere to SOP you can only go so far. The fact that you have to remind them says alot. This only applies to a small percentage of FO's, but it does apply. Most do a great job and have a great attitude.
This isn't meant to be a personal attack

Maybe you're just an ******* that thinks your **** doesn't stink, just some food for though?
(see I said this isn't meant to be a personal attack........... catch my drift)
If this is the kind of tone you set in the cockpit, well not too many people would respond well. Couple things that came across my mind as I read this.
The current FOs have only been here for a year or less. You cannot expect these guys to perform like a 8-12 year FO that you could have very well been. Many of these guys have low hours and fly 5 hours a month so how can you possibly expect them to be on top of everything. If it is as bad as you say it is, have you done anything about it? Maybe start with professional standards. I am guessing you have not just by the attitude you give out in a few of your previous posts.
Second, pulling out the SOP card is pretty weak seeing I have never flown with one captain in the past year who has actually followed the book to the word. Everyone does something at some point in every flight that is not SOP so I just cannot believe you would be that one perfect captain. Again, if it is bad enough, what have you done other than complain? Have you gone to Pro Stans?
Overall, for the new hires, this captain's attitude is definitely not the norm. Most captains I fly with are good people who will give you the shirt off their back if you need something. Congrats to all who have hired and we will see you out on the line.
