If you're gonna get nasty, Selcall, learn to SPELL. Here's your word list for this week: pineapple, negotiating, committee, negotiators, respective, ramifications, opportunities, apologies, and disadvantages. Write each word 10 times.

Now, what I said, and I'll stick by it, is your allegation that your pilot group would crucify your MEC if they brought a negotiated settlement because that would be seen as "caving". Yet, if the arbitrators decision is even worse than what could be negotiated, you think the pilot group will be happier; therefore, that is the route you expect your MEC to take. And again, that is exactly what happened at USAir. And again, I'll stick by my comment that that mindset is pathetic.

Your MEC SHOULD be able to make the case that they are NOT disadvantaging their membership, but rather advantaging them by bringing them something better than they might have ended up with going the arbitrated route.

Our respective pilot group has the potential to be a force to be reckoned with for all our "Friends in Herndon". These same Pilot representatives will have enormous opportunites to direct and influence the direction of ALPA National over several years if they so choose to do so. At least we can come up with a better slogan than "Taking it Back".
I completely agree with everything you just said. Which is why a negotiated settlement is the BEST solution. We are much more likely to have a harmonious and unified pilot group if both sets of negotiators can come back to their group declaring a negotiated settlement as the best fair and reasonable for all parties. If you leave that up to an arbitrator, many more on BOTH sides will be able to say they were screwed, and you have a split group. Have you learned nothing in the last 20+ years at NWA? How's that Robert's award working as far as building a unified pilot group?

And here is mine. I'm really not trying to be argumentative. I truly look forward to working with you guys, and we have a tremendous opportunity to be a global powerhouse in the coming years. And that can result in very good pay and working condition improvements for all of us if we have a strong company. But it will only work if we can get past the in fighting and be a unified group. It's just so frustrating to see the mindset that has developed on your property the last twenty years, and how foreign that is to the mindset on ours.
