Why is a "fleet, and staffing update" a nail in the coffin? I agree that things look bad, but look at Midwest. They're furloughing 75% of their pilots. If Delta wanted to get rid of Comair, why didn't they do it during bankruptcy? Comair is valuable to Delta because they can throw us into the Northeast and grow us or shrink us with an instant's notice. Remember a few years ago when Mesaba had 49 Saabs, and no other airplanes? It looked pretty bleak for them too, and they have lots of senior guys just like Comair. But now they seem to be the favorite.

I would agree that Comair is not an attractive place to be a pilot if you're looking for solid career progression, but I'm not so convinced that the big D is going to shut our doors. I think the two airlines that will go will be Freedom and Chatauqua. If you find something better than Comair then by all means take it, but to say they're shutting us down is a little much.
