Comair is valuable to Delta because they can throw us into the Northeast and grow us or shrink us with an instant's notice. Remember a few years ago when Mesaba had 49 Saabs, and no other airplanes? It looked pretty bleak for them too, and they have lots of senior guys just like Comair. But now they seem to be the favorite.
I would agree that Comair is not an attractive place to be a pilot if you're looking for solid career progression, but I'm not so convinced that the big D is going to shut our doors. I think the two airlines that will go will be Freedom and Chatauqua. If you find something better than Comair then by all means take it, but to say they're shutting us down is a little much.
Sorry G but I have to disagree. I will give you the fact that my attitude needs to be adjusted. I'm spending too much time on these boards and not enough time doing other things. But I haven't heard one piece of good news that has held up (unless you count the initial 900's) since coming here. But every piece of bad news has only been magnified. We are clearly not going to be Big D's goto partner in the future. Do you every hear Richard or Ed speak of Comair unless prompted?
Big D might not being closing our doors all together, but we are closing Concourse C. We have furloughed 206 pilots. We are downgrading 149 captains. We will downgrade and furlough more. And we still will be one of the most expensive pilot groups in the industry.
