Sorry man, the writing is more than just on the wall, it's on the floor the ceiling and there's a giant neon sign.
It really makes sense, Delta will cut down the airline piece by piece. If they just shut the doors, it doesn't allow the appropriate blocks to be taken down. If they just shut the doors, they'll have to pay severance to all it's office staff all at once, yadda yadda. It's much more economical for Delta to just bleed it out...let people quit until they get under the threshold.
Remember fellow furloughed pilots, we're only on the furlough list for 5 years..any one know what happens after that?
GONE, no severeance..nothing..just gone..off the list, no longer employed..no more seniority.
Think about it, Comair's management has VEHEMENTLY opposed any sort of buy outs, colas, voluntaries. They KNOW it makes no sense to buy someone out, when the airline isn't going to be around...or give someone a voluntary or a COLA which puts the ball somewhat in that particular employees court, why would they make that investment if DL has no plans for comair aside continuing to have an award winning Mx department, and a really good ground handling system.
Thems are the nuts and berries guys, Comair has had 30 years, and through one misstep (letting DL buy them) this airline has paid dearly. It's history and fact that Delta bought Comair to get rid of competition in Cincinnati, it's just amazing that it ook them nearly 20 years to do this.
Say what you want, about how it's not 100% that Comair's done..frankly..anything COULD happen. But the fact that Delta is not only taking away airplanes after being awarded for only 10 days, but now they're taking airplanes that have been coming our way for over a year...just makes me sick.
