I know there is a lot we don't know, but seeing how some of us had all but written us off, that doesn't seem their plan. Bear in mind the new boss came from MX. This brings in two points: 1. hopefully he is operationally minded, also, he probably has a lot of experience in working with unions. Let's hope that the latter has a more positive outcome. If mgmt and our unions could actually talk, we might get somewhere. He might be the one to do it. I say give the guy a shot. What are the other options?
How else would he sound?
Ever hear a new CEO start off his introduction speech with "We or going to downsize, cut jobs, and cut salaries". Of course he is going to sound positive.
