What is the time to upgrade taking now at Mesaba? I figure I am at the bottom of seniority now so what the heck! Mesaba has GOT to be better than 8-10 years, ehh?
How does Mesaba force you to resign your seniority number with another airline anyways?
Your upgrade time is changing even as we speak. Right now the most junior Saab CA is I believe Feb 2008 hire. The latest vacancy notice has 16 new CA slots for jets so that should free up more Saab CA slots.
Mesaba is getting 15 more CRJ9s starting Jan 2009 so there should be more CA slots opening up. If I had to guess, it would be less than 1 year for upgrade into Saabs if you have the ATP mins and 2 to 3 years for jet upgrades for new hires starting right now. But this is just a guess based on today's projections for growth. It could change.
Why would you want to keep your old airlines seniority number? I can understand if you are furloughed from a major airline but from another regional? Once your old airline receives notice from Mesaba they would know you have jumped ship anyway. I believe Mesaba makes you sign a letter and it is sent to your old airline. Even without this though, your old airline HR will receive a request for your records and that you have been hired by Mesaba.
