Default *Beep beep!*

If this is for real, this is going to be good...really good I'm interested to see how this all plays out. I can see the pro-union PenAir pilots out in front of the PenAir gate and ticket counter picketing already. "Honk for pilot unionization!" *Beep beep!* "We want ALPA to negotiate us a contract!" *Beep beep!*

I respect your views, and on some points I agree. But I'm happy negotiating my own pay and not paying ALPA to do things for me. Heck, I don't want my pay going down, which is a real possibility with a union negotiating my pay!

I’m going to venture and say that none of you have actually worked for a unionized airline. It’s funny how that works; if you lock a newborn or toddler in a closet and give them just the necessities (food and water) you will find that over time they are content with their existence. Try this with someone more developed and the results would be drastically different. We are the toddler. It’s not our fault, we just don’t know anything different.

As far as the union thing goes, I don’t think compensation is necessarily a major issue. Penair has by far one of the best pay scales of any regional airline. The issue is QOL and the work environment. Who cares if your home every night, when you do a triple banger or a DUT, king. You’re going home to crash, not spend time with the wife and kids. That really makes for a nice existence………..As for safety. haha Take 507 for example; I love it when I show up and dispatch doesn’t have a runway report for SDP. It’s a joke; you go down there when it’s blowing 20 across, glare ice and at night. Not because you’re a cowboy, but because the company is too cheap to pay someone for an early morning inspection. So you take the gamble, fire it up and go, because you’re scared Danny will get ****ed. I know some of you are saying…..But we do get a runway report in the morning, follow the next sheep off the cliff you delusional **tchs.

Now when the ALPA rep shows up, which will be happening shortly, I want you all to listen to what they say…..They know the real world, every major airline is unionized. You want to be an airline pilot right, well act like one! Don’t listen to management (I use the term lightly) propaganda or the guys that have been here 10 + years. Most of those guys have been drinking the kool aid forever, and their spine is jelly. I would hate to have some of those guys behind me during battle to cover my back. I think some would just chill in the fox hole and let you get blasted. Once the rep shows up you will have nothing to fear; as soon as you show up for the organizational meeting, Danny can’t touch you legally. A company can’t do anything once the employees begin to organize. I know we all signed the “At will employment form”, but unionization falls under an entirely different law base. If they tried ANYTHING, the courts would annihilate them. Remember every company went through this phase. I know it’s scary, but everyone else that has unionized went through the same thing.

To serve my fellow pilots…..On my knees forever. TT
