Any engineers here?

How difficult would it be to undo/replace in service parts on jets not due for maintenance/overhaul?
The replacement of these nutplates could be difficult since nut plates are most commonly used in areas that have limited or no access. The plateing issue is not structural and very likely couldn't contribute to a problem for many years, corrosion would have to occur for it to become a problem. It appears the problem for boeing is the non compliance with the FAR's and of course that its going to cost them a great deal of money.
