SB was in RG the other day, telling guys that CMR would soon be down to 800 pilots. But others in the company dispute that number.
We're at 120 aircraft by the end of this year. Lease returns for next year will take us down to 113. After the January furloughs, I think we're down to 1150-ish pilots. Not sure how many crews we staff per airplane, but losing 7 aircraft would probably translate to 75-100 pilots. So, in 2009, I would not be surprised to shrink to 1000-ish pilots total.
Losing 50 airframes sounds awfully extreme, and regardless would take us below the min fleet guarantee. Not saying it's not possible, but just thought I'd inject a little reality into the rumor mill....
