Last month there were about 5 (give or take one or two) more Reserve lines than there are this month... but there is no one on green lines anymore. It makes sense for them to spread all of the flying around to more pilots, and keep everyone under 75 credit because they have to pay each of us minimum guarantee any way, and with so many of us sitting around with our thumbs up our asses... it saves them money in the long run
For example 89 pilots: 30 of them make 85 hours the remaining 59 make guarantee. Total hour pay out is: 6975 hours ((30x85)+(59x75)).
But if all 89 only make guarantee the total hour pay out is only: 6675 (89x75)
Thats 300 hours of pay they've saved right there.
I realize that this is notwithstanding picking up open time/ junior manned, etc. But it still makes sense because traditionally people that are already blocking over 75 are able to pick up open time, etc.
So its to the companies benefit to keep as many people below guarantee as possible, if they're going to keep us on pay role any way.
