Default 380 vs 777 vs displacement pay protection

Hi Guys,
I saw a couple of Emirates a380's at JFK and got to wondering.....If FDX cancelled the 380 buy due to delays, would the slump/ rebound cycle make that A/C available around the time lift would be required again?

Could the 777 be written in disappearing ink for the 380 to arise from the ashes.....just wondering.

Part 2: My present employer just issued a system wide bid/ displacement for pre-merger pilots. No furloughs, but a loss of higher seats for lower seats. A lot like FDX, except there is pay protection for 36 months........a provision like that would sure soften the blow @ any carrier suffering displacements to get guys in the "correct seat".

Training costs and pay protection will also slow down the bean counter's inclination to take such steps. Might be worth asking the LEC/MEC about for next negotiations.

Good luck and best regards,
BG
