It looks like Comair/Delta knows that the very senior guys will never leave because they have nowhere else to go. The package offered mirrors what Delta is offering mainline employees. I think this package is designed for employees that have been with the company for 5 to 12 years. Any captain we have now has more than 8 years of service with the company. Any FO who upgrades to a captain will have at least 8 to 9 years of service. I think the goal is to reduce the FO average years of service to 3 to 4 years, and the Captain years of service to between 4 and 8 years. If you look at the big picture, it’s not just the very senior guys that are expensive, it’s the fact that we have 8 year FO’s and the most junior captain has been with the company for at least 8 years. I’m not a math wiz, but I think that is what they are looking for. Any of you math wiz guys can take the time to do the math will make it much clearer.
