However until the accident report is released, it's all speculation...regardless of how logical the conclusion may seem or how much it seems to be "common knowledge." It is inappropriate for dudes who identify themselves as military pilots to speculate in public about the cause of a mishap. While this is a pilot forum, this is not the same as being in the ready room/squadron bar where you know exactly who you are/are not speculating to. And it's a complete foul to talk publicly about things like his currency...the presumption when that is brought up, especially by a another dude who identifies himself as a harrier pilot, is that his currency was a factor in the mishap. Again, that would be speculation.
Yes - it is speculation. And thus it should be viewed as such. There are certain things that should not be talked about and there are certain things that are OK to be talked about. For me - as long as priviledged information is not talked about then no rules are being broken. Some people's opinions might be tested and that is ok. If we were not to talk about any mishap until the final SIR was released, then we would actually be hurting safety - not improving it.
Miramar mishap for instance. We don't know what happened yet but there is speculation and we are already formulating NATOPS scenarios to train to a possibility.
If I say that he (MP) was an RP during CQ and was single engine and coming back from USS Boat - well that is ok. In my opinion - me talking on this forum about what decisions were made and why, or what specific failure(s) occurred would not be appropriate.

I'm with BDGERJMN on this one.

That is ok......but let's keep any disagreement between members on this forum on a professional level and discuss any issue in a mature manner so we don't sound like the other forums.
