Easy way to look at this: for the realignment, anyone can bid on the open vacancies. Seniority rules. However, these awards may not be final, because now comes the displacement portion. Those that are left that didn't "realign" themselves, will now be displaced into whatever seat they bid for and can hold via seniority. Those that are pushed out of the bottom of their list will now bump someone junior to them in whatever airplane, etc. I'm not going to get into the whole "there are only so many recurring vacancies created from an original vacancy" etc. part of the contract.
