Some people don’t live in base (we call these pilots commuters). Standup lines usually commence in the late evening and conclude in the early morning, making it very easy for the “commuter” to get to and from his domicile (his place of work) on the same day.
More specifically the Canada trips (that’s the country to our north) depart around 9 in the evening and return around 8 in the morning, crediting (that means how much you get paid) slightly over 7 hours. This means the pilot (the person flying) basically gets the entire two days off.
well then, that makes sense they have that at most of the regionals Comair calls them Continous Duty Lines (crews call'em CD's) no rest period paid for the whole time on duty start @10 or 11pm land @ 1 or 2 am then take off @5:30am done for at least 10hrs in domicile. hotels are provided for crews during break.
