It seems most of the job hunting sites have a "click here to apply" button. What that does is send your generic, text only, cover letter and resume.

While this is easy, what are everyone's thoughts on doing it this way rather than finding the company's website (if you can) and submitting a properly formatted cover letter and resume?

Do we have any recruiters out there that can tell us which way you prefer to receive the application?
