Default Job Sites

It seems most of the job hunting sites have a "click here to apply" button. What that does is send your generic, text only, cover letter and resume.

While this is easy, what are everyone's thoughts on doing it this way rather than finding the company's website (if you can) and submitting a properly formatted cover letter and resume?

Do we have any recruiters out there that can tell us which way you prefer to receive the application?

Thanks,

Jim

Good question. I've applied to like 30 places using climbto350 and haven't heard anything from any of them. Granted the job market sucks right now, but still. Course I haven't heard anything from the ones I sent via straight email or online app either. Who knows.

I have used climbto350.com and heard back during two job searchs and have had a lot of success with the "one click apply" feature.

Personally, I find it disgusting having to pay to view jobs and attend career fairs. Climbto350 is worthless, too many overseas jobs and recycled ads. It's all about who you know!

its kind of discouraging how many sites there are and most of them charge a fee of some kind. Anyone have a site they prefer or that is worth paying for? Not looking for an overseas job right now either.

I use avianation.com. Pretty good sight. They have current jobs that you pay to view. Otherwise, after two weeks since those jobs were listed, they come up on the free end.

You have to remember that most posting on the web are there for legal reasons. Most of these employer's already have someone in mind but legally have to advertise for the opening and may make one or two calls or interviews to CYA to there boss. I have heard that recently happenned to a big telecomm company and they caught corprate hell for it.
