When are fellow pilots going to stop making lame excuses and apologies for what appears to be complete buffoonery. Professionals have standards and when one of our own makes a completely inexcusable, unforgiveable error it is high time we call a spade a spade and quit making lame excuses for why the crew did not do the most basic of before landing checks and put the gear down! This is just like the B-1 gear up landing a few years back.
There is NO excuse for a qualified crew to make an unintentional gear up landing. IF this recent C-17 landing is just plain old pilot error then they as well as the B-1 crew should never fly again and become greeters at Wal-Mart!
