Second off 26 years ago when I was going into the FAA I said the same things that Diesel said. Like I said I soon realized that I adapted and forgot rather quickly the enthusiasm I had when first hired.

I remember speaking with you I believe at the hotel while you were waiting for the van to take you to Comair the morning of my interview. If memory serves me correctly you worked New York Center or one of the major airports in NY. Are you still flying for Comair? I got hired but never made it due to them stopping hiring.

I was just trying to point out to Diesel that money is not the cure all. Like we used to say at ZFW, the best job is the one you came from or the one your going to but rarely the one your at.

I think that conditions will eventually improve, if for no other reason than everything goes in cycles (in addition to the fact that the new administration will have a more favorable attitude towards gov't employees). Also, I certainly agree that money isn't everything! I was also miserable for a long time, because I felt like I couldn't walk away from the good pay/benefits. But after a while you reach a level of comfort with your situation. Flying for Comair is not an option right now for Diesel (and I don't know what else he is qualified to do), so I still think that he should take advantage of this opportunity. By the way, I was furloughed in October. I was able to fly a few trips after IOE, and I'm glad that I had a chance to have this experience (even if I never fly part 121 again)!
