Remember in Top Gun when Iceman is dogfighting and the radar operator on the ship realizes that there are more Migs than orginally anticipated? The skipper calls to launch Mav and is told that the catapult is broken and that it will take 5 minutes to fix. The skipper responds that the whole thing will be over in 2 minutes and to get it fixed now.

That's kind of how this furlogh sitution is. A friend of mine in Atlanta keeps telling me that they are baffled by their metrics right now. Loads are down, especially from Asia, but we are kicking the crap out of FDX when it comes to picking up DHL's business. Our cheapest competitor just quit domestic ops last week and we are gaining a lot of new customers such as LL Bean. When this economy turns we'll be making money hand over fist--Atl thinks it could be 30% more than when DHL was operating. They look for Big Brown to pick up some assets over this summer. We won't furlough, but if we do it will happen sooner not later. We would be hiring right now if not for the NDs.
