I am a CA at 9E and you have hit the nail spot on dude. I had to stop and think about it when I got a sprint bill and I was over my minutes and a majority of those phone call were to SOC (dispatch and MX desk). I paid overage charges for being a company man to a company that screws me over and over again with JA, extensions and is not willing to give us a contract. I appreciate the stance the Union has taken in not giving in to the company's demands and if we (pilot group) stood together and just said "no" to some of the flights and equipment we fly arround all day in things could possibly change for the better. I am tired of being used to meet company goals , then only to get racked over the coals.
You are a lot more proactive than I am. If its not between the hours of 7pm and 7am, I refuse to use my cell phone. The company is NOT minute-worthy. Numbers are not in....wait 10 min, then 1 single call to ops. No rampers to park or push..wait 10 min, then single call to ops. If i need to get a hold of dispatch or MX, that is what acars is for. Even then, its 1 msg and 1 msg only. If they take 20min to get back to me, too friggin bad. I do my job and mine alone. I am not going to do anything "above and beyond". I will do my job to the best of my ability and thats it. If the company wants more out of me, they can cancel the g-damn displacement and give us a contract.
