I agree the change will be refreshing. Just expect a couple of bad commutes a month and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I've been commuting for nearly a year and still don't mind it; only had one commute go wrong at the home side of a trip. And the best part is I get to go home to where I want to be. Also, I have far fewer options than it sounds like you do, but I've made many new friends with regulars on the route (Pilot, FA, and even a few civilians LoL).
