If you can live comfortably from what you make on reserve, then I would stay put. If you need the money then take the transfer, it doesnt sound like the commute would be that bad for you. Make sure you take everything into account though.....are the lines commutable? how much for a crashpad? how many more days will you be away from home commuting the day before or after your trips?

I agree the change will be refreshing. Just expect a couple of bad commutes a month and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I've been commuting for nearly a year and still don't mind it; only had one commute go wrong at the home side of a trip. And the best part is I get to go home to where I want to be. Also, I have far fewer options than it sounds like you do, but I've made many new friends with regulars on the route (Pilot, FA, and even a few civilians LoL).

Also, it's great to just fly an Airplane regularly! Best of luck!

While you have heard several opinions, here's mine (OK, it's not mine. I was told it many years ago and it has worked for me).

Locate the largest, most junor base. Bid that base, then move to it. If you get bumped out of that base, then repete the process.

I have seen more guys get burned out by the commute more than anything else in this industry. I've seen more cases of AIDS caused by the stress. I've seen guys give back half their days off, some months, by commuting. I know guys that have done it for years, but I still wouldn't do it.

Just my two cents

I'd rather be miserable in a commute with too little time at home, than miserable the time I'm at home in-base!

IMO any line held is better than being subject to the whims of the scheduling idiots. you may lose a day or two off a month on the commute though

Yep, any line is a good line. Being a beeatch to scheduling and having to call some 20 year old chump to release you gets old quickly.

haha very true. But because I'm right on the line between reserve and holding a line in my current base, I know as soon as I change bases I'll find out if I would of stayed I would of held a line. That’s how it always works: If I leave, I could have held a line at home, if I stay, things will stagnate and I'll be on reserve forever.
