Default FDX-February Bidpacks

Since the company locked out the PSIT and built their own version of the bidpacks, how does everyone like their scheduling options for next month?

Seeing the same stuff that I bid every other month, just pays (~ 5 hours) less. Looks like less trash lines, more commuter friendly combinations in my seat IMO. Only 13 O/B lines and no O/B trips on the trash lines either.

Memphis avoidance mode - engage.

Do you think the company ratcheted down the optimizer any?

That's how it looks to me.

The optimizer is the pairing generator, not the line builder. To answer your question...No!

I almost hate to admit it (as I know how hard the PSIT works on your collective behalf) but I thought the lines were slightly better. I bid more lines than usual, maybe because RLG is so low and I'd hate to get stuck working 15 R days for only 62 hrs. pay.

All-in-all, I expected the lines would be MUCH worse without the SIG oversight

My 12 year old son could build even better looking lines...If they cut the BLG to say, 6 hrs.

BINGO. Reducing the BLG makes it much easier to build lines. Makes the double dead head trips much cleaner. A lot of commuters have been living on reduced BLGs for years. A lot of guys drop the stand alone 6 or 9 our trip for QOL. Its the memphis bubbas who are hurting with reduced BLGs.

Don't you think it would be easier to build lines with less optimized pairings?

What kind of lines do you want to build? If the optimizer builds pairings with short layovers and long duty days that can't turn to another trip--that would be easy because you'd have a day off in between all your trips. Building commutable lines using some of these optimized pairings is a challenge.

I think we saw a lot of system delays this winter because of crews going illegal on some of these optimized pairings. I've had multiple 8 in 24 problems this winter that I've never had before. People pay for a premium product at FedEx and when the screws are too tight and cause problems, the customers will go elsewhere.

Does anyone else find it odd that management can unilaterally reduce the number of days that (almost) the entire crewforce works...Yet, if the crewforce wants to reduce the number of days worked, by not flying extra, it's labeled an illegal "job action"?
