If you want a good project to look at, consider doing a conversion plan of the old Meigs Field in Chicago. There's plenty of pictures and diagrams on the airport since the mayor closed it down several years ago (with the intent of converting it into green space). You might even find some alternative plans out there to get your creative juices flowing (although to date, none of them have been completed or even started...)

It's just one ugly 1/3 mile x 1 mile long grass and dirt covered island out there beside lake michigan. As for photos, look at google earth for top down pictures...
