I'm sure the coverage is not quite as good, but I just need basic coverage. This was just for me also, the cost may differ if you're looking to cover a family. I'm not certain, but I believe the stimulus package includes some kind of aid for COBRA, like paying for 65% of it? I'm sure others out there have more info about that. Even if that's the case going through an independent company will still be cheaper for me. Hope that helps some.
Yeah, the old style 102% COBRA I heard was way out of possiblity. But the 65% subsidy seems like that might bring it back to a reasonable level. I just have no idea of a starting point of what it would cost before/after the gov't subsidy. Fortunately/unfortunately, Comair has a fairly decent medical package. A similiar individual package would be too costly.
