Another CFI reinstatement
Heard a rumor that if one's CFI expired long enough ago, only the FSDO can assign the DPE for the checkride. At least that is what the OAK FSDO believes. I can find nothing written in this regard - other than for initial CFI applicants. Anybody know how the local feds are coming to this conclusion? What's to stop me from just finding some DPE out of the blue and arranging the ride myself? Note: I don't know if the FSDO's opinion applies to all CFI rececks or only to those applicants whos' certificate has benn expired for a certain number of years. Mine has been expired since 1990.
