When I started I was on reserve for about 2 years, and it was 6-8 months before I actually went home after a ready. Then again, Comair was a much different place in 2003-2004.
Get this - there was actually a time when I worried about being on reserve... because I didn't think I'd have the required 3500 hours when it was time to upgrade!
