I had a conversation with a Delta new hire who actually lives in MSP. I asked if he planned on bidding to MSP and he said he was not sure now that he had dealt with NWA pilots. He has been denied the jumpseat 3 times now trying to commute to work. In one case they put a American pilot on the jumpseat who came up at the last minute and left him at the gate. In all cases the Captain made the decision not the gate agent. In one case the Captain ranted and raved about how he got screwed by the Roberts award for 5 minutes before telling him he would not take him. These occurred prior to release of the new seniority list. This type of behavior is abhorrant and a direct contradiction of jumpseat policy.
Totally and completely unacceptable and unprofessional. The jumpseat should
NEVER be used as a political tool or a bully pulpit. Sorry this happened.
