Discussions on Pause While
Study Intensifies
Representatives of the Company and the Association did not meet today in order to allow both sides additional time to study voluntary leave, voluntary work schedule reduction, and voluntary retirement concepts in greater detail.
“The discussions have moved into an important new phase. We have moved beyond general concepts and now are getting into details,” said IPA President Bob Miller. “Working through these details will take time, and ultimately will determine whether or not we can succeed.”
Miller said the EB is aware that members are intensely interested in the outcome of the talks.
“We are keenly aware that hundreds of our members are facing a possible furlough, status downgrade, or forced domicile change. While we want to keep you informed, we know that our best chance of success will come by focusing our efforts on creating alternatives to furloughing. Right now, we do not have an agreement, and we are not in a position, at this point, to make a prediction. It’s too early,” he added.
Miller said the study period could go into Friday, into the weekend, and possibly into next week.
“We are not going rush. The Board is determined to methodically work through every issue in an attempt to reach a workable solution.”
