I know a lot of guys are dying to get out of the pool and towel off, but man do I have a predicament if, by some miracle, things pick up before November.
I'm flying on a contract...it's not a PFT gig, but if I leave before the end of my contract/before flying 500 under contract, I am responsible for my training costs and all wages paid as monthly guarantee that were not "earned" through actual flight. I don't have a problem with this in and of itself; I have a history for honoring my agreements and my client/employer has a good reputation within the industry...that being said, I sort of shudder at the thought of not being a free agent on the day that HR calls and says the words
class and
date.
Don't think I'm not wishing the best for everyone else in the pool; I really hope things turn around for us...but I'm going to be kicking myself if I have to turn the gig down after all the months of 'wading'. Oh well, if that happens, I hope some of the guys I rapped with during the Fall/Winter 08 hiring cycle will let me know how it all goes for them. I'll be making the best of things in GA...that's where my heart is anyways.
