I non-reved to CVG on one of our 50's a couple weeks ago and I was in row 8 squeezed next to another big guy. Half way through the flight I went to use the lav and realized row 13 was wide open. So I quickly grabbed my stuff and went back there. The male FA saw me and made me move back to row 8 because I couldn't sit back there. I asked him why and he said for weight and balance. Huh?? I wanted to tell him that it was probably better if I sat back there and me being in row 8 means I'm in the same section. Of course I'm just a furloughed guy and he didn't know that. So I couldn't really argue.
This happened to me on a 900 recently. I think it was a Pinnacle flight, but I'm not certain about it. Anyway the last row was wide open and when I started to move back there the FA said it had to be left open for weight and balance issues. I was a revenue passenger that day, so I probably should have said something but didn't. When I went to the lav, I could see that the FA's personal belongings were strewn across those seats, which may explain why he didn't want me back there.
