As far as the rest of SCOPE, it is an improvement. Especially the arbitration rights we now have. So one of the four cornerstones looks decent.
What you're missing is the fact that the Contract was between FedEx Express and the pilots - - they could have said that purple monkies from FDX Corp would carry your Jepps from the parking lot to the jet, and it would not have amounted to a hill of beans unless FDX Corp agreed to the same. The only thing that bound FDX Corp was the "Dear Captain Fato" letter - - and it contains precious little.
