I would also imagine that Delta is timing the parking of MD-80's or DC9's around that time as well. We will have fall trickle down in hours + overall travel being down. I don't think the public gives a flying toot about most of this. They go on Delta.com and buy a ticket, not caring and 99.9% not even realizing that they'll be flying on a regional. You're giving the flying public too much credit on their perception skills, and too much emphasis on whether or not they're going to give a crap.
I don't doubt that there will be more furloughs, unless something drastic happens, but at the same time the DC9's and MD80's going away probably wouldn't be horrible for us..as the routes wont ALL go away, and they'd probably be looking to just reduce capacity a bit on some of the antiquated NWA DC9 routes.
