The company is way understaffed right now and they have considered bringing some of the furloughees back, however, due to the fact that most have been out more than 90 days, they would have to be re trained etc.
By the time that was done, the summer busy season would be over and those same people would be back out on the street.
It was pretty apparent we were understaffed within 90 days of the last furlough. Maybe someone could have thought about that then--especially knowing we were flying "extra" hours in May and June? That way, you can bring a few pilots back at minimal cost and probably save 10x the money by canceling fewer flights/not having to junior man more expensive labor. Hopefully there is something I am not considering, because it can't be this easy to run an airline.....
