They didn't have an opportunity to bargain with management. They were offered YOUR payscales maxing out first officers at $37/hour or nothing. They decided it was better to lose their jobs with dignity than UNDERCUT the entire profession and become the lowest paid 170/190 operator in the world. These Midwest pilots had a career. They were not flying jets for part-time job wages like you guys. To them, it was about supporting a family. To you, it's a cool airplane and a lot of fun to fly. 10 years from now, there will be 12 year first officers at Republic still making $37/hour while inflation brings your pay to the equivalent of $20/hour today.
